Alvarez paints Fresno’s Historical Water Tower

"It is my goal to challenge myself as an artist. It is my belief that every area in a painting should carry its own strength," is the philosophy of Fresno born Rita Alvarez
Alvarez says “Through my paintings I want to share the beauty and pride of life in the central valley, so everyone can see what I see.”  On August 20th from 1 to 5 pm a free open-to-the-public paint demonstration, by Alvarez, will be held at the Pepper Tree Gallery located at 2785 W. Shaw #107 in Fresno. Please come and enjoy the excitement of watching a masterpiece develop before your eyes. At the demonstration Alvarez will paint a portrait of the historical Water Tower, an important part of Fresno’s downtown architecture. Alvarez is also offering painting classes, which will be held in the Gallery.  Sign-ups will begin at the Demonstration.
Studying the arts in the US and abroad, beginning her education with an AA from Fresno City College, Alvarez says, “While attending FCC, I established a strong understanding of the fundamentals of drawing, composition, and the language of art. I feel these skills definitely gave me an advantage over other students as I continued my education.” Alvarez also received her Bachelors of Arts from the University of California at Davis and continued her studies at the Angel Art Academy in Florence, Italy.  After years of dedication to the art field, her specialty is painting the figure in the landscape. Alvarez enjoys working with oil on canvas while always understanding the importance of drawing. Her lifelong love for Central Valley and the Sierra Mountains led her to return to Fresno where, for her, it all began.
