What an awesome locale for painting! Yosemite National Park's South Entrance the gateway to heaven. As you can see from the rough sketch on my canvas I was having a fantastic time. Some may be thinking "why doesn't Rita go inside and paint the many well known icons?" I paint this because of the exhilarating feeling I felt as a child, every time our family passed through the gates. I knew I was entering the land of magic.
While beginning this painting I met park visitors, travelers and even park rangers. I must thank Ranger Dave for the heads up on when to catch the best sun rays. I can't wait to see tomorrow's progress as I continue working on my 24 x 12 canvas at Yosemite's south gate entrance.
